Our dogs are kept on private property in outdoor kennels. These kennels are large 10 x 10 structures and provide the dogs with shelter from the elements, beds to sleep on that we try to keep nice and orderly, but dogs just want to rumple their covers, and plenty of food and water. From their kennels, the dogs are able to view 360 degree views of nature. They enjoy the soft breezes coming in off the Atlantic Ocean and fall asleep to the sounds of the locusts in the trees every night.
Our dogs are never lonely; they have a minimum of three visitors a day who provide them with food, water, bathroom breaks, walks, and most of all, plenty of love.
To be a volunteer all you need to do is love dogs, be willing to show up to care of the dogs on any given day (of your choosing), and not mind getting a little dirty and sweaty. You'll also need to scoop the poop every once in awhile, but that is a small price to pay for all the doggie hugs and kisses you'll receive!
You can volunteer any amount of time, all we ask is that you are self-sufficient and able to coordinate your schedule with us at least a week in advance so we can plan for your visit. For instance, if you know that you would like to come for an hour every Wednesday, we like to be able to guarantee that a volunteer will be there so our dogs don't go without a meal. Other than that, you're free to do whatever you want with the dogs. Take them to the beach, go for a run on a trail, or just come to give them pets. Whatever you want to do, they will love it!
We also need volunteers for our various festivals and adoption days, so let us know if you'd like to be a part of that.
Have some skill or anything else you'd like to share with us? Just let us know. We're always open to hearing suggestions about anything that will help our precious dogs find their forever-homes.
